On Empire of the Sun

As Associate Editor of Blueprint magazine, I presented a talk on Ballard’s relationship to architecture as part of a day long discussion at the Royal Academy of Arts. Other contributos included a personal hero of mine, the writer, cultural critic and theorist John Gray. I placed Ballard's Shanghai-set, semi-autobiographical novel 'Empire of the Sun' in relation to the Shanghai Expo 2010. The event 'Ballardian Architecture: Inner and Outer Space' was organised by the RA Architecture Programme, and took place in the Reynolds Room at the Royal Academy of Arts.
